A candidate petition must have at least two percent of the number of people who voted for the office at the last regular city election. Minimum of 10 signatures. [§376.4> There is no restriction on when you may begin collecting signatures, but all signers must be residents of the ward/city when the paperwork is filed.
Candidates can begin filing affidavits of candidacy and signature petitions on August 11 - August 28 at 5 pm. All required fields must be filled out. Candidate paperwork can be downloaded from the Secretary of State's website. (Please note: Davenport is a city with primary provisions.)
