General Election
A General Election is the election in which federal and state officers, members of Congress and of the general assembly, county and township officers, and other officers appear on the ballot. General Elections are held the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November of each even-numbered year.
The 2024 General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Polling places will be open on Election Day from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

- Tuesday, August 27, is the first day absentee ballot request forms can be accepted for the General Election.
- The first day absentee ballots can be mailed is Wednesday, October 16.
- Absentee voting in-person will begin on Wednesday, October 16, at the Scott County Administrative Center, 600 West 4th Street, Davenport in the first floor Board Room.
- The deadline to submit an absentee ballot request form is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21. Absentee ballot request forms must be in the office by 5:00 p.m. Postmarks do not count!
- The pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, for the General Election.
- The Election Office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2.
- Absentee voting in-person will end at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4.
- Voted absentee ballots must be received in the Election Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Voters casting their absentee ballot pursuant to UOCAVA or Safe at Home should review their absentee ballot instructions for additional guidance.
Results will be posted on election night.
Pre-Registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00pm Monday, October 21. Persons wishing to participate in this election who register to vote after October 21 will be required to provide proof of identification (i.e. current and valid photo identification card with an expiration date), AND proof of residency in their voting precinct, when they go to the polls on election day, or when they request an absentee ballot in-person. Other provisions may also apply. Persons not registered to vote by October 21, should expect a longer processing time at the polls on election day.
Voter ID Requirements
Absentee Ballots will be available beginning Wednesday, October 16, for mail and in-person voting. Download the absentee ballot request form here.
- The Auditor's Office can begin accepting Request Forms on Tuesday, August 27.
- In person voting starts Wednesday, October 16 at the Auditor’s Office, Scott County Administrative Center, 600 West 4th Street, Davenport, and at various satellite locations (see below) in Scott County. Voting at the Administrative Center is Monday - Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and Saturday, November 2 from 9:00 am-5:00 pm in the first floor Board Room.
- In-person absentee voting in the office of the Scott County Auditor closes at 4:30pm on Monday, November 4.
- Requests for absentee ballots must be in writing and should be mailed or delivered to: Scott County Auditor, 600 W. 4th St., Davenport, IA 52801.
- The deadline to submit an absentee ballot request form is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21. Absentee ballot request forms must be in the office by 5:00 p.m. Postmarks do not count!

All absentee ballots must be received by 8:00pm on Election Day to be considered on time to be counted. Postmarks no longer are acceptable.
All County ballots will be available for in-person absentee voting (early voting) at the following locations. Early voting will be available from October 16-November 1. Dates and times that each location will be open will be determined after September 19th:
